Is it a silly gag manga about FFXIV characters going to high school? I mean, sure, but I like even my silly gag fandoms to make sense, so I have some Thoughts about this one.
Asahi is still a bit of a prick, but Yotsuyu is rather bland and subdued. Further, Asahi has a siscon in this universe (if you don’t know, don’t ask) instead of hating Yotsuyu. Finally: In FFXIV proper, Asahi and Yotsuyu are biologically cousins but adoptive siblings, while in Eorzea Academy they still remain siblings despite the completely different setting.
Conjecture: In the universe of Eorzea Academy, Yotsuyu’s parents adopted Asahi rather than vice-versa, resulting in their both growing up in a less toxic environment.
Or, idk, it could just be the fact that they live in a modern AU where marrying off your underage daughter isn’t legal, and Yotsuyu is still abused at home in other ways, but I just really want her to have a good life in at least one universe. Let her have this.
Emet-Selch appears to be Garlean, being depicted in his Emperor Solus look rather than his Ancient design. However, magic exists in this world, Emet-Selch is able to use magic, and most importantly, no one thinks this is weird.
Conclusion: Garleans can use magic in this universe.
Y’shtola, Thancred, and Urianger wear light-colored clothes, and Emet-Selch wears dark-colored clothes.
Conjecture: The teachers were also divided between academies before the schools merged. This is pretty obvious when you think about it; someone had to be teaching at the Academies of Light and Darkness. Interesting that there doesn’t seem to be any animosity between them.
Two years ago, the Academy of Light and the Academy of Darkness merged into one school, Eorzea Academy.
The main character of FFXIV, the Warrior of Light, is nowhere to be seen — understandable, as it wouldn’t do to give them a canonical appearance, but there’s nary even a mention of them, either.
Headcanon: Something weird and magical happened to merge the schools, and the Warrior of Light was involved. Whatever happened wound up removing them from the world as we know it, and erasing them from everyone’s memories as well, just like with the Warriors of Light at the end of 1.0.
